Over the last few months, our team has consulted with different organizations of various sizes and spoken at several conferences of government leaders.
In McKinney, Texas which, in 2012, ranked the 2nd Best Place to Live by Money Magazine, Patrick designed and facilitated an Advance meeting with members of the governing body and City executive team. Mayor Loughmiller, City Council members and Jason Gray, City Manager were successful in creating a unified plan to generate positive dividends from the unprecedented growth the community is experiencing.
The Mejorando Group was selected to conduct an organizational review of the Human Resource Department of the City of Savannah, Georgia
The consulting team spent several days in January launching the project and enjoying the southern hospitality Savannah offers to visitors and residents alike.
Patrick continued his work with six aspiring department directors of the Union Sanitary District by providing coaching service enabling their growth and development to be purposeful and aligned with District needs.
Patrick was retained to design and facilitate an Advance meeting of Carl Swenson, City Manager, and members of his executive team for the City of Peoria, Arizona. Peoria has rebounded extremely well post-recession with even bigger plans for a stronger community on the horizon.
The Costa Mesa (CA) Sanitary District has retained the Mejorando Group to develop a Knowledge Transfer Program. Transferring knowledge is an aspect of Succession Planning and is emerging as a popular solution to counter the departure of seasoned employees. The focus is on extracting the tacit knowledge from existing employees prior to their departure and re-purposing it for potential successors.
The Arizona Chapter of the Government Finance Officers Association held their winter conference in gorgeous Prescott which was a terrific setting for Patrick to present a new conference session he developed entitled “Relationship Building with Elected Officials in the 21st Century.”
Every January since 2010, Patrick has traveled to Brookings, South Dakota home of South Dakota State University to work with Mayor Tim Reed, members of the City Council along with Jeff Weldon, City Manager and members of the executive team to create a shared work plan for the year. Brookings is always slightly chilly (never rose above 5 degrees on this trip) but offers a wonderful backdrop for big, bold thinking on how to build a better community.
The week following the Super Bowl, the Association for Pennsylvania Municipal Management held its annual Executive Development Conference at the historic Bedford Inn. Patrick presented his “Your Leadership Playbook” workshop. Watch a short clip on You Tube to learn more about Your Leadership Playbook
The Illinois City/County Management Association held its annual winter conference with Patrick presenting “R.A.P.I.D. Innovation: Converting Ideas into Results” workshop
In Gilbert, Arizona Patrick completed a project began in 2012 to assist organizational leaders in implementing the recently adopted Talent Management Program designed to build a stronger workforce. The Mejorando Group facilitated group meetings of employees to create performance competencies and provided targeted recommendations to immediately improve the Town’s recruitment, selection and promotional practices.
